India supplies a large share of the world's spice oils, oleoresins and select floral absolutes. Understanding the crop calendar and documentation practice makes the difference between a smooth contract and a stalled shipment.
Crop belts and what comes from where
Origin within India matters — the same botanical grown in different states gives measurably different profiles.

Harvest and availability windows
Plan contracts around the crop, not around the calendar quarter. Buying against a fresh campaign protects both price and quality.
- Spice crops are largely harvested post-monsoon into the dry season
- Floral campaigns are short and weather-sensitive; commit early
- Ask for distillation or extraction date, not just packing date
- Long-term contracts smooth price volatility in tight crop years
Documentation for import
A complete document pack prevents customs delays and QA rejections.
- COA with batch number, analytical method and release date
- MSDS / SDS in the destination-market format
- Certificate of Origin and, where required, phytosanitary certificate
- FSSAI licence details for food-grade material from Indian manufacturers
- Allergen, non-GMO, BSE/TSE-free and vegan statements as applicable
